Increase Your Job Prospects with SkillsAdvance Ontario (SAO)

SkillsAdvance Ontario (SAO) can help you find available jobs in manufacturing and will set you up with the skills development you need. The SAO program exists to give you the best shot possible at landing a secure, well-paying, exciting job in eastern Ontario’s manufacturing sector.

How SAO Sets You Up for Success in a Manufacturing Career

SAO has worked closely with manufacturers in eastern Ontario to understand the skills required to succeed in their companies. But instead of trying to find employees with the technical skills that match the job, SAO is providing training for 50 job seekers starting in September of 2019.

The job seekers will gain the skills and experience they need to work with local manufacturers in Leeds and Grenville. Sector-specific training was developed with the help of Loyalist College, the Employment + Education Centre, and the participating companies.

nullThe best part of the SAO program is that you get a paid job placement with a local manufacturer as part of the training. You can start to make money right away and really get a feel for the company and culture. Consider it a test run of your future career. Once you have shown the company what a great employee you are and how willing you are to learn, your chances for full-time permanent employment are extremely high.

Why You Need to Invest in Upskilling

The landscape of manufacturing is rapidly changing in eastern Ontario, and it is sure to evolve into the future with advances in automation and artificial intelligence. Even if you take part in the SAO programs to develop your skills for a particular job, it’s important to continue to upskill in your career so that you can stay on top of your game in your manufacturing career.
